We love working with free thinking couples and being ethically minded is at the core of what we do, so we’ve put together a guide to help couples who want to have a more ethical wedding.
Hire not buy
We have a large range of items to hire for parties and weddings. Most of our items are handmade and we source materials locally where possible. We purchase reclaimed wood from a local charity which uses the funds to help people who have mental health setbacks, back into work. Many of our items are created from pallet wood.
Hire dresses and suits
If you’re opting for bridesmaid dresses and formal suits that will probably never be reworn, there are so many options for hiring clothing. Many websites even hire designer items at less than the price of a new dress or suit.
There are so many fantastic British designers with amazing collections, some may be local or even on your high street.
You’ll be supporting small businesses, meaning less air miles, no forced or child labour and you’ll be keeping money on our high street.
If your venue doesn’t have in-house catering, local cake and catering companies who use local ingredients will mean cutting air miles. If you can provide your own alcohol, there are many brilliant British gins and whiskeys produced in the UK.
Vintage/ rewear/ donate
Wear a vintage or preloved dress and jewellery from a wide range of place such as Bridal Reloved.
Try and choose any clothing or jewellery which will be worn again or that you will donate to charity after the wedding.
Make sure your confetti is biodegradable and that it doesn’t come in plastic packaging. Freshly dried petals are a great option from flowers grown in the UK. Buy in bulk and place in a basket for your guests to take.
